Welcome to the Private Housing Section of Environmental Health.

This team is responsible for inspecting conditions in private rented accommodation.

We also target unfit properties, overcrowding, and poor maintenance through enforcement and education.

We aim to ensure the poorest houses within the private rented sector are improved to fit standards.

We tackle issues which affect the health, safety and well-being of those families and individuals who have least control over the standard of their living accommodation.

To achieve this, we will inspect privately rented properties to ensure they meet the relevant legislation. We will also provide information and advice on grant assistance and availability.

Castle Point Borough Council also works in partnership with Social Services and Anchor Staying Put to meet the needs of disabled occupants through adaption of their homes.
