Castle Point Borough Council is pleased to announce that you can now receive your Council Tax or Business Rates bill electronically, rather than by post.

If you choose to have this service, your bill will be issued as a pdf attachment in an email sent to the email address provided by you. You will be helping the Council to save money and therefore you, as a taxpayer.

If you want to receive your bills by email, please complete an on-line EBilling Request Form  form which will automatically be sent to us.

alternatively you can e-mail your details to us at ebilling@castlepoint.gov.uk giving your:

  • Council Tax or Busines Rates payment reference number;
  • name;
  • telephone number; and
  • e-mail address

The bill will be sent in pdf format so your will need adobe acrobat reader to view it. If you do not have this please click on the link below to download a suitable version for your computer.

Once this request has been processed an electronic bill will be issued to you to confirm that your email address has been added to our records. All future Council Tax & Business Rate bills will be sent to you in electronic format.

Please note, it is your responsibility to access and read all the Council Tax and Business Rate leaflets that explain how your Council Tax or Business Rate has been worked out and where it has been spent. These leaflets can be found at:

www.castlepoint.gov.uk and following the links Council Services/Council Tax or Council Services/Business Rates. Click on the appropriate year you require to view.

You will be reminded where to access the leaflets every time we send you a bill.

By submitting a request for this service, you are agreeing to notify the Council in writing, if:

  • Your email address changes
  • You no longer have internet access
  • You no longer want this service.

The Council reserves the right to withdraw this arrangement with immediate effect if we consider that this facility is being misused or mismanaged. You will be notified in writing if the facility has been withdrawn.

The bills are issued in accordance with S.233 Local Government Act 1972, The Council Tax (Administration and Enforcement) Regulations 1992 (S.I. 1992/613) and The Council Tax and Non-Domestic Rating (Electronic Communications) (England) Order 2003 (S.I. 2003/2604). They are treated as ‘given, served or supplied by sending the notice or information to that person by electronic communication to such address as may be notified by that person for that purpose’. Castle Point Borough Council is the data controller for the purposes of the Data Protection Act 1998. The information you provide will only be used by the Council to assist in the administration of Council Tax and will not be disclosed to a third party.
