Rubbish Riot Day 2010
21 July 2010
Rubbish Riot Day – In the Big Top at Waterside!
RUBBISH Riot Day is on Wednesday 28th July – This year it promises to be even bigger and better than ever!
The fun-packed day, which is the largest of its kind in the UK, gives youngsters a chance to make music, produce sculptures and play games, all while learning about the importance of recycling and the environment.
The Castle Point Borough Council event has been going from strength to strength and last year was attended by 1,200 children and their parents.
The event is free to attend and will be running at the Waterside Farm Recreation Ground, Somnes Avenue, Canvey Island in a Big Top Tent from 10.30am to 3pm on Wednesday 28th July 2010
The council’s recycling mascot, the Garbage Guzzler, will also be attending.
Youngsters will be able to:
- Join drumming workshops with Weapons of Sound, a group who travel the world performing with instruments made from everyday items
- Help make larger than life art work with Dave Taylor The Sculpture Man
- Create their own Garbage Guzzler cartoon strips with Alan Case, illustrator of Danger Mouse and Channel Five’s The Little Princess
- Design their own funky fashion wear with textile recycling company LMB
- Theatre groups about recycling and reducing waste.
- Mr Stixx will be Urban Knitting, using recycled wire and tape to make works of art
- Junk Modelling with the Art Factory
- Enter games, competitions and much more
The event is sponsored by Pinnacle, the council’s street cleaning and ground maintenance contractor.
