Green Flag flies proudly over Woodside Park
30 July 2012
The Green Flag mark of excellence is flying proudly at Woodside Park, Benfleet and a special ceremony to mark the award is taking place on Wednesday.
Local groups worked in partnership with Castle Point Borough Council to win this prestigious accreditation for the popular park.
Castle Point Wildlife Group, Benfleet Cricket Club, Castle Point Bowls Club and Friends of Woodside Cemetery all supported the application by responding to the consultation and helping the Council to document the history of the park.
Representatives from all of the groups, together with Veolia Pitsea Marches Trust - which helped the Council to buy North Benfleet Hall Wood in 2001 and provided the Wildlife group with funds to help maintain the wood – will be at the ceremony on Wednesday 1st August at 3pm.
The Green Flag Award recognises the achievements of all those whose hard work and dedication help create green spaces for local people to enjoy.
