Planning Application
This is the part of the planning service which deals with:
- Planning Applications
- Applications for Listed Buildings Consent
- Advertisement Consent
- Hazardous Substances Consent
- Applications for works to preserved trees
- Planning Enforcement
- Certificates of Lawfulness
- Permitted Development
The Council aims to make a decision on most applications within 8 weeks of receipt of a valid application. For major applications the Council aims to make a decision within 13 weeks. The Planning Committee receives quarterly reports on performance of the service against these targets.
Most planning applications are determined by the Director of Environment under delegated powers however some applications, as identified in the Council's Constitution, will be reported to the Planning Committee. Minutes of the Planning Committee are available online.
Where permission is refused applicants have the right of appeal and information about this process is sent out with the decision. Details of appeals made are available through the Planning Database Search link on this page. When permission is granted there are often conditions attached to the permission and applicants are advised to ensure that these are properly fulfilled before and during work.
