Anglian Water Keep-it-Clear at the Castle Point Show

The Castle Point Show is an excellent opportunity to highlight the importance of the water cycle and the Anglian Water Keep-it-Clear programme which helps to enrich lives for the local community on a number of levels, through experience of the event itself as well as acknowledgement of what we can all do in our homes to help protect the environment.

Anglian Water captures rainwater when it falls from the sky, treat it and then transport it to millions of homes. Then we take that water when it is has been used, clean it and return it to rivers and water courses. Keeping our waterways free of pollution is essential for our environment.

Our Keep It Clear programme works with communities to raise awareness of the link between pollution and behaviours in our homes which could lead to blockages and flooding. If a blockage caused by fats, oils and grease or food waste put down sinks, together with wipes and sanitary waste which have been flushed down the toilet instead of being put in a bin, leads to a flooding incident this could pollute rivers and even get out on to beaches and the sea. This kind of pollution is catastrophic for wildlife and marine creatures.
