Castle Point New Local Plan – Consultation

Castle Point New Local Plan – Consultation

Castle Point Council started formal consultation on the Borough’s New Local Plan on Monday 16 December 2019.

This is an opportunity for residents, businesses and interest groups to have their say in the future of the borough and for comments to be considered by an independent planning inspector at an Examination which the Council is hoping will be held in late 2020.

The new Local Plan was approved for public consultation by the Council in October. The Plan sets out the planning framework for the borough to 2033 and covers issues such as housing, economic growth, protecting the environment, infrastructure and heritage.

It is a statutory plan and the progress of the Plan takes away the threat of intervention by the Government which has hung over the Council since 2017.

The Plan and evidence base documents are available on the Council’s website through which comments can be made. Comments must be received no later than 5.00 pm on Friday 14th February 2020.

Copies of the Plan are also available at libraries within the Borough and at the Council offices in Kiln Road, Thundersley
