Swimming Pool water the best in the country

Castle Point’s two swimming pools have achieved a prestigious pool water quality award.

Leading Leisure Industry consultants Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA) audited the Council’s procedures and safe systems of work, and tested the water in both pools and found it to be first class.

This test was in addition to the statutory ones carried out by Castle Point Borough Council and Northumbrian Water Scientific Services.

Castle Point Leisure voluntarily undertook the extensive audit process, with site visits, water analysis samples and paper work trails. The scheme is open to all swimming pools in the UK, including public pools, hotel pools, health and fitness club pools and holiday park facilities.

Castle Point’s Runnymede and Waterside pools are the first ever to achieve this award in the UK which recognises good practice and provides a framework for promoting high standards of pool water quality across the UK.

Assessments were made against current industry standards and provide swimmers with the reassurance that their pool water has been reviewed by specialist assessors.

“This is most definitely a feather in the cap of our leisure teams who run the two swimming pools in the Borough,” said Cllr Tom Skipp, Cabinet Member for Environment and Leisure, “and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who was involved in this project.”
