£150 Energy Rebate Discretionary Scheme

Below outlines the eligibility criteria for the £150 Energy Bills Rebate Discretionary Scheme. Please read all information before applying.

Our team have a large number of payments to make, therefore we advise you refrain from contacting us once you’ve applied until 1 month has passed from your application date.

Eligibility

If you pay your Council Tax by direct debit and one of the following apply to you, the payment will automatically be sent to you and you do not need to make an application.

  • You are in Council Tax Bands E-H and were in receipt of Local Council Tax Support on 1st April 2022. This will show on your Council Tax bill as ‘Local Council Tax Reduction Scheme’.
  • You are in Council Tax Bands E-H and a Class U (Severe Mental Impairment) Exemption was applied to your account on 1st April 2022. This will show on your Council Tax bill as ‘Exemption Class U - Occupied only by mentally impaired’.
  • You are in Council Tax Bands F-H and a Disabled Banding Reduction was applied to your account on 1st April 2022. This will show on your bill as a ‘Disabled Reduction’.

If you were set up to pay by direct debit on 6th April 2022 and you believe you should have received an automatic payment because one of the above criteria applies to you, please email energyrebate@castlepoint.gov.uk with your Council Tax Reference number, your full name and which of the above criteria you believe applied to you as of 1st April 2022.

If you do not pay via direct debit or any of the following apply to you, you will need to apply using the link at the bottom of this page.

  • You are in Council Tax Bands A-D, you have received your Mandatory payment and can prove exceptional personal and financial circumstances. This is because further information will be required by our team to assess your eligibility. We will contact you for this information.
  • You are in Council Tax Bands E-H where a carer’s disregard was in place on 1st April 2022. This will show on your bill as a disregard. Please note, this does not apply to the care workers disregard for employed care workers.
  • You are in Council Tax Bands E-H and can prove exceptional personal and financial hardship. You will need to apply regardless of how you pay your council tax. This is because further information will be required by our team to assess your eligibility. We will contact you for this information.

Application

To apply to the Energy Rebate Discretionary Scheme, please follow the instructions below:

1. Click the APPLY NOW button below.
2. Log in or Register and then select your Local Authority (Castle Point).
3. Click the “Find Schemes” button. You do not need to enter your Property Reference here. On the next page, click “All Schemes”.
4. Under “Request Type” click the drop-down menu to select “Energy Support Payment”.
5. Three schemes should now appear. Click the “Start an application” button on the scheme titled “£150 Energy Rebate – Discretionary Scheme”.
6. You can now enter your Property Reference Number to complete your application.
