It is with a heavy heart that both of our centres have to close after entering tier 4 restrictions. 

All memberships and swimming lessons are now frozen. Anytime paid for will be automatically added to your memberships upon re-opening. We will not be taking any further Direct Debit payments until we have a re-opening date. Please do not cancel your Direct Debit with your bank.

Coronavirus (Covid-19): Information for customers

It is with heavy hearts that we will have to close the doors to both Runnymede & Waterside Farm Leisure Centres due to entering tier 4 restrictions. Both centres are now closed until further notice.

All memberships and swimming lessons are now frozen. Anytime paid for will be automatically added to your memberships upon re-opening. We will not be taking any further Direct Debit payments until we are able to re-open. Please do not cancel your Direct Debit with your bank as this will mean we cannot start taking payments upon re-opening of the centre.

Please note upon re-opening all memberships and swimming lessons will be unfrozen automatically unless requested otherwise.

All activities from Sunday 20th December will be cancelled. Any activities paid for will be moved forward to when we re-open.

We will keep you updated as best as possible through Email, Social Media, the Castle Point Leisure App & our Website. Please make sure you check these channels regularly for the latest updates in regard to the centre closures, re-opening and frequently asked questions.

Most importantly, we hope that you stay safe and we look forward to welcoming you back again to our safe centres when we re-open.

 

FAQ's

Do I need to do anything with my membership / Swimming Lessons? 

No, you do not need to anything further with your membership or swimming lessons. All memberships and swimming lesson fees have now been frozen. We will not be taking any further Direct Debit payments until we re-open again. Please do not cancel your Direct Debit with your bank as this will mean we cannot start taking payments upon re-opening of the centre.  Any time that has been paid for during the closure will be automatically credited when we re-open for all types of memberships.

Will you refund my December Payment? 

December payments will not be refunded. Any time owed on your membership or swimming lessons will be credited to your account automatically and future Direct Debit payments will be adjusted. 

Can I freeze my membership upon re-opening? 

You may freeze your membership upon re-opening. All customers memberships will be unfrozen automatically upon re-opening. Any customers wishing to freeze must email leisure@castlepoint.gov.uk with a request to freeze their membership before the re-opening date. 

Will you still be doing Live Classes? 

Yes we will still be doing our Live Classes. We will be releasing our Live class timetable soon. Follow our social media pages for Facebook here and Instagram here. 

Will you open in stages similar to re-opening last time? 

When the Government give the go ahead to re-open all areas that were open upon closure will re-open upon opening. Please note any changes to guidance will be adhered to upon opening.

Check out what we will be doing to keep you safe when we re-open.

We have followed all industry guidance including from UK Active, Public Health England and other relevant Governing Bodies to keep you safe in our centres. 

All activities will need to be booked in advance preferably through the online booking system or in the Castle Point Leisure App. For additional assistance please see our member and non-member booking guides. 

All customers are advised to wear face coverings at all times when not exercising in our centres. We must stress that customers do not have to wear a face covering when exercising in the Swimming Pool Hall, Fitness Suite, 3G Football Centre, Sports Hall or Exercise Studios. The same applies when customers are eating or drinking refreshments in our cafes but are advised to wear a face covering whilst travelling to and from these areas throughout the centre.

We are asking all customers to be aware and follow the changes we have made to keep everyone safe upon our return. We are asking you to:

  • Please be patient as everything will not be normal when you return and to please bear with us during our initial re-opening and transition period.
  • Keep a social distance from others not in your household of at least 2 metres where possible, if not possible make sure you keep a distance of at least 1 metre.
  • Wash your hands regularly for at least 20 seconds.
  • If you cannot wash your hands please use the hand sanitising stations located throughout the centres.
  • Please make sure you come to the centre prepared. Please bring water and avoid using changing facilities as much as possible.
  • Wipe down all fitness and group exercise equipment you use, including benches and lockers in changing rooms, both before and after use with the cleaning equipment provided.
  • Use the online booking system to book classes and fitness suite timeslots where possible to keep distance from our staff at the reception desk and to avoid queueing when entering our leisure centres.
  • Make sure you do not congregate in groups within the centre.
  • Do not take ‘sweat’ towels into the studio or fitness suite, please use the disposable white roll as an alternative.
  • Read and follow all signage throughout the centre.
  • To pay by contactless payment methods at Reception.
  • To follow new directional signage and one way systems we have in place to help keep all customers and staff at a safe distance from each other.

We are asking all customers to please make sure you follow all the measures that have been put in place at all times for the safety of yourself, other customers and staff members.

For all new steps we have introduced please see below for each site.

Waterside Farm Leisure Centre

  • One way system around the centre to make sure that social distancing is adhered to.
  • Reception café area has a new queuing system with spots set out so customers know where to stand and be able to social distance easily.
  • All customers are encouraged to pay by contactless payments only.
  • Placed Perspex screens at reception and at the gym desk so you can speak to our staff safely.
  • Added social distance markers around the centres, to help our customers social distance, and where to queue if required.
  • Added relevant safety signage to remind all customers what we ask of you to use our centres safely.
  • Added extra cleaning stations for customers to clean their own equipment before and after use in all appropriate areas including the changing rooms and studios.
  • Added extra signage to remind all customers of the rules in relation to using the centre.

Fitness Suite

  • Fitness Suite will now have to be booked so we can control capacity. All customers are to book online to avoid lengthy queues at reception.
  • Fitness Suite slots will be 1 hour long. You can book a maximum of 2 slots per day. Booking availability will be every 15 minutes. 
  • Gym equipment has been spaced out to leave at least a space of 2 metres. Some equipment has been placed out of order to make social distancing possible. We have also introduced the use of two squash courts to increase capacity.

 

Group Exercise Classes

  • Indoor Group Exercise Classes will be unable to take place from Wednesday 16th December due to entering tier 3 restrictions. We will be updating our timetable with outdoor classes and other ways to keep fit soon. 
  • The amount of group exercise classes has been slightly reduced to make sure there is no congestion within the centre. Each class has been carefully programmed so there is at least 10 minutes before the next class so there is enough time for people to leave and then come in without crossing over.
  • All Group Exercise Classes will have a reduced capacity so that all customers and staff can adhere to social distancing.
  • All Group Exercise Classes and Fitness Suite sessions will have music played at a reduced volume. You may wish to bring headphones and your own music player if you would like louder music.

Cleaning

  • Have invested in a professional cleaner with electrostatic induction technique and new solution which should more effectively clean areas and protect against COVID-19.
  • Have updated our cleaning regime to include using a bleach spray twice a day as well as upping our general cleaning regime which includes regularly cleaning touch points.
  • Added extra cleaning stations throughout the centre with hand sanitiser, white roll holders and antibacterial sprays so all customers can clean areas to feel even more confident they are in a clean environment.

Sports Hall

  • Sports Hall Racquet Sports have resumed. You must bring your own racquets, shuttlecocks and balls as we will not be hiring equipment. 
  • Anyone over the age of 18 must only play Badminton, Table Tennis & Basketball with others from the same household. Please do not book as customers not from the same household will not be able to play. 

Centre Cafe

  • The centre café will be closed from Wednesday 16th December due to entering tier 3 restrictions. 
  • Reception café area will have a smaller capacity so customers can social distance, however outdoor café seating will be available.
  • Customers must not mix with others indoors whilst in the centre cafe unless they are from the same household. 

Swimming Pool 

Due to the current circumstances we are bringing in new procedures to keep everyone within the centre safe.

  • To restrict capacity we are introducing a booking system for the swimming pool. We suggest that all customers book online as this is the easiest way
  • Making sure you come “Beach ready” with your swimwear underneath your clothes so time spent getting changed is as limited as possible.
  • When coming out of the swimming pool please get changed and leave the changing areas as quickly as possible.
  • Please follow the one-way system in the Changing Village and around the swimming pool.
  • Wipe down the cubicle you use to get changed in before and after every use with the sprays provided if it is essential to use the cubicles.
  • We will be utilising double width lanes during our social distanced swim sessions to allow for social distancing whilst swimming. Please swim clockwise in all double lanes and choose the appropriate speed lane.
  • Social Distance sessions will take place Monday to Friday from 7am until 3pm and from 6pm until close and on weekends between 8am and 9:45am and from 3pm until close.
  • Between 3pm and 6pm Monday to Friday and between 9:45am and 3pm on weekends will be open social distanced sessions. Lanes cannot be guaranteed during this period.
  • If you need to take a break, please face the pool edge and leave room for others to swim past.
  • Use the steps to enter the pool. Please use the steps indicated by the signs at the deep end if you are a confident swimmer and shallow end steps for non-confident swimmers.
  • Swim responsibly, maintaining social distancing at all times.
  • Booking sessions will be 50 minutes long and can be booked on every hour. Please do not exceed your session time and leave the pool immediately.
  • When booking for a family please book for each person attending despite age. Please note that the swimming pool admissions policy still applies.
  • Introduced slow, medium & fast lanes. Please use the correct lane for the speed you swim. Overtaking is not allowed. 
  • Please be patient as everything will not be normal when you return to the pool and please bear with us during the initial re-opening period.
  • During lesson times please use the public use lockers to avoid crossing over with swimming lesson customers.
  • There will be no spectators, with the exception of carers and those with young children, however spectators can wait outside, or in their cars.
  • Any spectators or those coming into the building that are not exercising must wear a face covering.
  • Any equipment needed will need to be provided by the customer. We will not be hiring any equipment.

Teaching pool bookings will need to be booked in advance preferably through the online booking system.

Waterside’s teaching pool will be opening on the following days:

Monday’s 11:30am -1:30pm

Tuesday’s 12:30pm – 1:30pm

Friday 11am – 3pm

Saturday & Sunday 12pm – 3pm

 

Sauna & Steam Room

The Sauna & Steam room will be closed from Wednesday 16th December due to entering tier 3 restrictions. 

 

Runnymede Leisure Centre

  • Markings set out along the corridor to guide customers so you can socially distance more easily.
  • Reception area has a new queuing system with spots set out so customers know where to stand and be able to social distance easily.

Runnymede Leisure Centre’s Swimming Pool is now open!

We are so excited to have both our swimming pools back up and running to give you the option of two centres for a swimming session. This will also mean the return of more Aqua classes too!

STA Swim Academy

Adult Classes will not be able to take place due to entering tier 3 restrictions. All other classes can still take place as per the current restrictions.
