Award Winning Dog Training Business leads the way for small businesses

The NOVO Awards, powered by the BEST Growth Hub, reward Essex’s most brave, bold and ambitious businesses

This year, the BEST Growth Hub launched the inaugural NOVO Awards.  Focussed on recognising and rewarding innovation as well as the ability to pivot and adapt, the NOVO Awards saw entries from 100+ Essex-based businesses.  Six entry streams were categorised as Economy, Creative, Society, Environment, Use of Business Support and Digitech.

An expert judging panel awarded marks, with 32 entries reaching the benchmark to win NOVO Awards.  26 of the 32 companies won classic NOVOs and six won gold NOVO Awards.   Bespoke artisan-made trophies and certificates were presented at the gala presentation and dinner at Braxted Park on 21 October.

Gold winners included Kingswood Group (Maldon), Audley End Miniature Railway (Audley End), Syper Education (Chelmsford), Arma Karma (Colchester), Indirock (Southend-on-Sea) and Refinery Works (Saffron Walden).

BEST Growth Hub Manager, Brian Smith, commented: “We were delighted with the attention and enthusiasm that the NOVO Awards has received from the Essex SME community.  The entire county was represented in our winners’ list, across the four ‘corners’ of Essex - from Saffron Walden to Southend and Clacton to Harlow.  It’s encouraging to see how Essex is excelling at innovation and entrepreneurship.”

Whilst Essex is home to approximately 90,000 registered businesses*, sometimes leading a business can be a lonely space. The BEST Growth Hub’s offering is centred around creating a trusted network for businesses to be supported at any stage of their journey. In these unprecedented times, the BEST Growth Hub has helped hundreds of businesses start, survive, grow and thrive.
