Business Grants update

New Lockdown Grants:

The government recently announced that businesses in the retail, hospitality and leisure sectors will receive a one-off grant worth up to £9,000

£4.6 billion in new lockdown grants to support businesses and protect jobs - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

Where a grant was previously paid under the Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Sector Grant Fund Scheme in the Spring of 2020, then the Council will arrange for payment to be made automatically using existing bank details when the funds are received from central government. This is not anticipated until week commencing 18 January 2021 at the earliest. A separate application process will be in place for those businesses where existing details are not held or eligibility criteria have to be satisfied.

Local Restrictions Support Grant (Open) Scheme:

The application period for this scheme will cease after the 29th January 2021. This closure date relates only to the period the Council was in Tier 2 between 17th October 2020 to 4th November 2020 and 2nd December 2020 to 15th December 2020. The majority of businesses have now made applications for this period. There is a limited budget for this particular scheme and to ensure that maximum grant payments can be made for all eligible applicants for this period, this scheme will be closed after the 29th January 2021. This time restriction does not affect the other business grant schemes.
