Castle Point Leisure are Keeping Everyone Active Through the Current Difficult Times Through Online Class Workouts

Waterside Farm & Runnymede Leisure Centres have been keeping everyone active during the current climate through online workouts. Due to Coronavirus (COVID-19) Castle Point Leisure have had to shut the doors to all of our customers. Castle Point Leisure wanted to make sure that all our customers were able to stay fit and healthy during their time away from the centre. The decision was made to start doing online classes on our social media pages as soon as our centres were forced to close.

Castle Point Leisure are now running 45 online classes per week on our social media channels plus extra strength workouts to keep our customers going during these difficult times. The swimming Instructors have even started to post videos and other activities so our Swim Academy customers can stay in touch and keep learning key skills ready for when they can return.

The success of these social media classes and videos has been huge and are now trying to use this to help the local community even further. A fundraising page has been set up for CAVS (Castle Point Association of Voluntary Services) at and are asking all users of the classes to donate £1 or as much as they can spare each time they do a class to help the great work CAVS are doing helping the vulnerable community at this difficult time.

Cllr Paul Varker Cabinet Member for Environment and Leisure Services at Castle Point Borough Council said “To see the attitude and determination of all the staff involved to keep our customers fit and healthy at this time is a true inspiration to our community. The fact our customers are still so loyal at this difficult time is a real credit to the staff and our brilliant customers”.
