Local Government Boundary Commission Report

The Council has thoroughly investigated the legal options for challenging the conclusions of the Local Government Boundary Commission regarding new electoral arrangements for Castle Point Borough Council.

At a special meeting of the Council on 31 May 2023, the Council approved a Motion stating: “‘We ask the MP for Castle Point use relevant Parliamentary Procedures to object to The Castle Point Electoral Changes Order 2023.”

At this time this is the only course of action available to the Council.

The Council remains focussed on raising objections to the current boundary review for Essex County Council divisions which currently proposes deletion of one councillor from Castle Point.

This will be brought to the July meeting of the Council for debate.
