Councillor Bill Dick RIP

Many warm tributes were paid at the Council meeting held recently to former Mayor Councillor Bill Dick who passed away earlier this month.

Councillor Bill Dick represented the St Peter’s Ward for a total of over 38 years and was Mayor for the year 1992 to 1993.Councillor Dick had been struggling with ill health for some time but he was determined in his efforts to continue to serve this Council and the community of Castle Point.  

Councillor Dick served on Essex County Council for  many years representing Thundersley Division, highly regarded for his expertise on Scrutiny Committees both at Essex and here in Castle Point.  Councillor Dick was among the first to serve on the Castle Point Council’s Cabinet and was a member of the Planning Committee for many years and was a highly regarded and respected Chairman of the Committee.

Many messages of condolence have been received all have paid tribute to Councillor Dick’s hard work and dedication. His funeral is to take place on Thursday 30th December 10.30am at Pitsea Crematorium. The flag outside the Council Offices will be flown at half mast as a mark of respect.
