Get it out early! That is the message to Castle Point residents who have refuse collections on Tuesday this week.
Owning to the extreme heat, for the safety of our crews, collections will be starting an hour early tomorrow (6am) to avoid the hottest part of the day. Residents are asked to put refuse and recycling containers out this evening for tomorrow's early collection.
As a result of the heat, collections may also happen later than usual as we are asking staff to take more breaks to ensure they stay hydrated and as cool as possible.
Cllr Stephen Mountford, Cabinet Member for Waste and Environmental Health, said: “The heat is extreme and refuse collection is hard, physical work.
“We are doing everything we can to support our staff working in this heat and thank them for their commitment to ensuring our services remain uninterrupted as possible.
“I would also like to thank our residents for their understanding as temperatures climb.”
