The Mayor of Castle Point was saddened to learn of the death of HRH The Duke of Edinburgh earlier today Friday 9th April 2021.  The Mayor on behalf of the Borough of Castle Point offers sincere condolences to Her Majesty The Queen and The Royal Family.

The flag is flying at half-mast as the councillors and staff of Castle Point Borough Council at the Civic Offices in Benfleet pay their respects to His Royal Highness, The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

The current pandemic unfortunately makes it very difficult for members of the public to lay a floral or any other tribute in memory of HRH The Duke of Edinburgh in a socially distanced way.  The Duke of Edinburgh was Patron, President or a member of over 750 organisations.  If you would like to contribute to a charity in his memory please visit https://www.royal.uk/ - please only do so if you are able to.
