Inspector Approves Community Infrastructure Levy

Inspector Approves Community Infrastructure Levy

Following an examination by The Planning Inspectorate, approval has been given for a Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) to be implemented in Castle Point.

Proposed Levy rates will now go to a meeting of Council in March to be ratified. If agreed, the new planning conditions will be implemented on April 1, 2023.

The CIL will mean that developers must pay a charge to the Council when they build new homes. The cost each developer incurs will be based on the size of each property built.

Castle Point Borough Council will seek to reinvest the money collected for the benefit of the communities where the development takes place in things such as infrastructure and recreational space.
