New Drowning Detection Technology Installed at Runnymede & Waterside Farm Leisure Centres

The swimming pools at Runnymede & Waterside Farm Leisure Centres have benefitted from a £130,000 upgrade with the installation of drowning detection technology to improve the safety for all users.

Poolview Plus Drowning Detection Technology embraces the concept of blended lifeguarding which combines the best traditional Lifeguard approach, alongside the best technological solutions, making the experience as safe as possible.

The Lifeguard team have a monitor stationed at their positions showing underwater views of the swimming pool, making difficult angles to see now crystal clear. The technology will also alert the Lifeguard team to any unusual events in the pool so the team can react quicker than ever to any incidents, making the pools even safer.

Cllr Beverley Egan, Cabinet Member for People – Health & Wellbeing said “the investment in this great piece of technology brings the safety of our wonderful customers using our swimming pools at our centres to the very top level and brings the services and facilities that Castle Point Leisure provides up to a standard of some of the very best in the industry.

Alongside the training our staff receive and the health and safety procedures in place, our leisure centres are some of the safest to visit. Our customers are able to relax and enjoy their time here better than ever.”
