Tackling flooding together

Residents in Canvey are invited to attend a Flood Hack event in the town on Saturday 16 July. If you have ideas or solutions to try out to reduce the impact and risk of flooding in the area then come along.

The event is open to the whole community and takes place on Saturday 16 July from 9.30am – 4.30pm at Prospects College of Advanced Technology (PROCAT) on Meppel Avenue, Canvey. Residents are invited to drop in during this time to share and look into ideas on how communities can prepare for extreme weather. Free refreshments will be provided.  Please do be prepared to be out and about on the island throughout the day, and please bring a laptop or tablet if you have one.

The Flood Hack aims to bring together residents, local authorities, community agencies and businesses to share ideas around preventing flooding on Canvey Island and how residents can help to prepare themselves to reduce the impact of flooding following heavy rainfall such as the flooding in 2013 and 2014.

The Hack is free to attend and open to everyone. If you are planning to attend, please sign up at: floodhackessex.eventbrite.co.uk.

Residents and businesses on Canvey Island and across Essex who are interested in gaining detailed information and reports on their flood risk and the potential consequences of flooding in their local area can visit: essex.gov.uk/flooding .
