Warning about fraudulent calls

In the last few days, we have received reports of calls to residents in the Borough from individuals claiming to be from the Council looking to offer support because of an individual’s vulnerability to Covid-19 infection.

During the call, residents are asked to provide their National Insurance number which is a key piece of personal information that you should never give out without being absolutely sure about the person you are dealing with.

Neither the Council nor its partner, the Castle Point Association of Voluntary Services (CAVS) who have been operating our local support hub, will ever ask residents for their National Insurance number.

If you do receive such a call, please hang up immediately and call our main switchboard number 01268 882200 (option 8) to report this.
