THE MAYOR’S BUSINESS AWARDS 2023

RECOGNISING BUSINESS AND COMMUNITY EXCELLENCE IN CASTLE POINT

 

The winners of the Castle Point Mayor’s Awards 2023 were announced at an Afternoon Tea Reception at the Council offices on Friday 31st March.

From this year’s impressive entries, Canvey company BLYTH CATAMARANS won the coveted title of Castle Point Business of the Year. Blyth Catamarans specialise in the design, build and supply of workboats for commercial operators across a wide range of industries both in the UK and Worldwide.

LITTLE WILD TRIBE was the runner up in the close-run contest for the business award.  Little Wild Tribe is an innovative Scandinavian inspired nature nursery for children and pre-school for children from birth to five years old located in the Hadleigh Country Park.

The Mayor of Castle Point, Councillor Martin Tucker,  struggled to choose the winners from some very high-quality and unique businesses. GMD Mowers, Tools and Hardware Ltd, International House Business Centre and Boyce Hill Golf Club each received a certificate of commendation for achieving business excellence in Castle Point.

The Apprentice of the Year title went to SOFIA GOODCHILD who until recently was working in a role as a Management Assistant for the Benfleet Primary Care Network (PCN). Sofia has now been promoted to the role of PCN Manager progressing her career forwards, just four years after leaving secondary school.

COURTNEY GLOVER the Community Activator Coach at the Canvey Skills Campus Gymnastics Club was the Runner Up of the Apprentice of the Year award. Courtney started her apprenticeship just over a year ago with no experience of coaching or delivering sessions and is now leading most of the sessions that run at the club.

The Community Awards recognised the outstanding dedication and commitment of Naomi Pilkington, Runnymede Swimability Squad Teacher, Terry Irving, The Beacon Shed Thundersley and Alan Browne, Morrisons Community Champion who each received a certificate of commendation for going out of their way to help others in the community in which they live and work.

The Business Awards provide a unique opportunity for local businesses to showcase their achievements and gain recognition in the local area.

The Awards are sponsored by the Castle Point Business Forum and The Federation of Small Businesses.
