Your Community, Your Views – get involved in the Castle Point Plan.

What people value most about where they live and what they want to see change is the focus of questions designed to help shape the future of communities across Castle Point.

The Council has begun the first stage in talking and listening to residents to ensure their views are at the centre of creating the Castle Point Plan.

The Plan will take two years to develop and, when in place, will act as a framework to inform planning decision and guide development in the borough up to 2050.

Cllr Warren Gibson, Chair of the Castle Point Plan Board, said: “This is about much more than simply coming to a figure for the number of houses needed in the district.

“It is about ensuring development, be it housing, commercial or industrial, meets the needs of the communities in Castle Point and reflects the vision people have for where they live.”

During the first stage of community engagement residents are being asked six questions designed to give an insight into to what matters most to them about the place they call home.

The survey, which can be filled in online, will also give people the opportunity to say what they would like to see change and improve in their community.

Cllr Gibson continued: “Our message to residents is clear. This is your community and your views matter. Every response will be considered.

“It takes ten minutes to complete and I would urge everyone give us their views.”

The online survey will be accompanied by pop-up engagement events over the summer months and further rounds of consultation will be undertaken as the Plan develops.
