Prevent Terrorism
Prevent is one of the four elements of CONTEST, the Government counter terrorism strategy to stop people becoming terrorists or supporting terrorism.
The Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015 contains a duty on specified authorities to have due regard to the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism. This is also know as the Prevent duty.
Staff and Councillors have received training on reporting any concerns about individuals as part of the Council's PREVENT Strategy
