In late 2024, the central government announced that Councils in England must combine into new Unitary Authorities. This means you’ll have one, larger Authority managing most of your local services.
In late September 2025, we will present our business case for 5 new Unitary Authorities to the central government to be considered. You won't see a change in your Local Authority until 2028 and services will continue to run as usual.
We will keep this page updated with relevant information to keep you informed on how you may be affected by this change.
