Graffiti is an illegal, anti-social activity that creates a negative impression of an area and contributes to people’s fear of crime.
The Council has a procedure and time scales for dealing with graffiti on its own land, buildings, highway signage and street furniture.
The Council will also deal with graffiti, especially obscene, racial and sexual, on buildings such as, railway companies, educational institutions and other statutory undertakers. This also applies to property such as, telecommunication plant & equipment, mailboxes, transport shelters, etc.
For graffiti incidents on privately owned buildings / land we can provide information on companies who provide a professional removal service if required.
