Today we have installed a new aeration system at Canvey Lake to help improve oxygen levels and water circulation.
With the current hot, dry weather set to continue and temperatures forecast to remain exceptionally high, water levels are likely to fall further in the coming weeks.
The lake relies on surface water run-off and has no other water source. We have looked at how we could add water, but there are no available sources. Essex County Fire and Rescue Fire has confirmed they cannot help and we need to preserve the current low levels.
We are doing everything we reasonably can to manage conditions at Canvey Lake, including daily monitoring and taking practical measures where possible during this challenging time.
