Castle Point’s Active Wellbeing Programme shows growing impact
Castle Point Borough Council’s Active Wellbeing Programme is continuing to make a difference to residents’ health, confidence and social connections, with February’s results showing a clear rise in participation and community engagement.
The programme, delivered by the Castle Point Wellbeing Team, offers inclusive sessions designed to improve both physical and mental wellbeing. From gentle exercise and mindfulness to social groups and family focused activities, all classes are accessible, friendly and open to residents of any age or fitness level.
In February, the programme received 44 referrals from GPs, social prescribers, community organisations and partner agencies—demonstrating growing trust in the initiative for people experiencing health conditions, low activity levels or social isolation.
Of these, 13.6% went on to become Wellbeing Members, choosing to continue their health and wellbeing journey beyond the initial programme.
Across the month, the Wellbeing Team delivered 67 sessions at The Paddocks, drawing 1,362 attendances from a total of 359 people.
Some of the most popular sessions included:
• Chair Yoga
• Sit & Move (and social group)
• Breath & Meditation
• Gentle Zumba
• Pilates
Each session offers a welcoming, inclusive space for residents to move more, feel better and connect with others.
Whether residents want to become more active, make new friends, or better manage long term conditions, the Active Wellbeing Programme remains a warm and accessible route to better health.
Cllr Rob Lillis, Cabinet Member for Health, Wellbeing and Housing at Castle Point Borough Council, said: “These results show the value of investing in community wellbeing. Residents are moving more, connecting more and feeling more confident—and that’s exactly what this programme is designed to achieve. I’d encourage anyone thinking about taking part to come along, try a session and see the difference it can make.”
