A significant refurbishment project in the centre of Canvey is set to begin on 15 June.

Work to transform the Knightswick Shopping Centre in Canvey Island marks a major step forward in plans to revitalise the town centre.

Improvements will include new flooring, ceilings and lighting, upgraded entrances, improved accessibility and the introduction of Wi Fi and digital screens to enhance the shopping experience.

The £2 million refurbishment project, funded by Castle Point Borough Council, will upgrade the centre into a brighter, safer and more welcoming space for residents, visitors and local businesses.

Cllr Tom Gibson, Portfolio Holder for Special Projects and Assets said:
“We’re investing a substantial amount into providing a stunning shopping destination that suits the needs of our local people and further reinforces our ongoing commitment to improving our assets in Castle Point.”

Cllr Dave Blackwell, Leader of the Council, said:
“The Knightswick Centre has always been an important shopping hub for the island and these improvements are sure to attract residents from all across the borough to come and shop locally in a modern building.”

The centre will remain open as usual throughout the works, with most construction taking place outside normal trading hours to minimise disruption.

The project is continuing through the summer with the improvements expected to be completed by the autumn.
