Hadleigh Bowls Club

The club was founded in 1930 and has been at its present location in John Burrows Recreation Ground, Rectory Road, Hadleigh since 1966.

It is a fully mixed club with opportunities for ladies and gents to take an active part in the life of the club.  We play outdoors in the summer months from May to the end of September and indoor short mat in the winter.  We have 6 excellent outdoors rinks and a dedicated indoor short mat hall with 2 mats.

We run several internal leagues, both indoors and outdoors, some for ladies, some for gents and some mixed.  We also have several internal competitions where members can compete for trophies and we play friendly matches against other clubs, both home and away.

Some of our more competitive members take part in external leagues and competitions, in which we do rather well.

Please see our recently updated website:  hadleighbowlsclubessex.co.uk

Please note we only accept new members who will play outside in the summer as well as short mat indoors in the winter, not short mat-only players.

If you are already a member of another club, we ask that you do not represent that club in a match against Hadleigh, if you are a member here too.

Costs:

  • We charge an initial membership fee of £25, then an annual renewal fee of £60, payable in January. This amount is reviewed annually.
  • There is an annual charge to pay to the council for a season ticket to play outside which is £108 for this year, but again is reviewed annually.
  • Sometimes, if it is charity match, there is a charge of £2 which goes to the charity. Also, there may be a raffle to swell the funds for the charity. We run 4 charity matches per year.
  • Members pay £2.00 every time they play in a short mat fixture.
  • Bowling shoes and the correct clothing will also be needed.
