Parks

The Council provides approximately 455 hectares of parks and open spaces throughout the Borough for the benefit of residents and visitors, there are a number of Byelaws regarding the local parks. The main locations are:

Maintenance

The Council, via its Grounds Maintenance and Street Cleansing Contractor Pinnacle PSG, undertakes the horticultural maintenance and cleansing works of all parks and open spaces to keep them in a good standard. Pinnacle visit the sites regularly to carry out works such as:

  • Grass cutting (approximately 2-3 week cutting cycle weather permitting from March – October – the height of cut varies according to the type of area but general open spaces are cut to a height of between 10mm – 50mm)
  • Litter collection
  • Flower and shrub bed maintenance
  • Hedge cutting
  • Maintenance of playgrounds
  • Maintenance of bowling greens, cricket pitches and football pitches

All are maintained appropriately and standards of cleanliness and health and safety are achieved by regular inspection.
