The Youth Council is about making a difference to your community and developing personal skills, for anyone aged 11-18 (up to 25 with SEND) who attends a school in, or lives in, the borough!

Why join?

  • Great Experience: gain useful skills such as organisations and teamwork, whilst learning about politics and how your Local Government works!
  • Share Your Views: express your views on your local area, and be heard by each other and the Council.
  • Make a Difference:  help make real change in your area by getting involved in exciting projects
  • Boost Your CV: this opportunity will add an important element to your CV/Personal Statement, and the work will count towards your volunteering for Duke of Edinburgh awards, and you can earn up to a Gold award in the Young Volunteer Awards!
  • Budget: this Youth Council has a council-funded budget for spending on projects, meaning you will be empowered to make change happen and have the resources to make an impact!

 

How to Join!

Becoming a member of the Youth Council will require 1.5 hours of free time every fortnight after school hours. 

If you have a big imagination, want to make a positive change to your community, and develop your skills, join!

Ongoing Projects

Connect4 Youth Club

The Youth Council have organised a Youth Club - Connect4 - to take place weekly, every Wednesday at the HOME Hub in Benfleet. This is a safe space for anyone aged 11-19 from between 4pm-7pm to spend time doing fun activities every week and connect with like-minded people!

Activities include: movie nights, karaoke, board games, outdoor sports, arts & crafts, activity workshops and more!

Connect4 Poster: describing the activities of: karaoke, arts & crafts, movie nights, board games, sports, baking, gaming & more! Every Wednesday 4pm-7pm at the HOME Hub, 88 Brook Road, Benfleet, SS7 5JF
