Are you interested in making a difference to your community and developing personal skills that will last your whole life?

The Mayor of Castle Point, Councillor Barry Campagna, is looking for students in years 8-10 to join the new Castle Point Youth Council.

Why join?

  • Great experience: Gain useful skills such as organisation and teamwork, while learning about politics and how Local Government works
  • Share your views: Express your views to people who run the Borough and let them know what people your age think is important
  • Make a difference: Help make real change in your area that benefits the community with involvement in exciting projects
  • Boost your CV: the opportunity will add an important element to your CV/ personal statement and work will count towards volunteering for the Duke of Edinburgh award
  • Budget: A Council-funded budget will be available for the Youth Council, meaning you will be empowered to make change happen on the projects you’ll be involved in.

What we need from you

Becoming a member of the Youth Council will require 1.5 hours of free time every fortnight after school hours.

Updates from our Members

We have organised a Youth Club - called Connect 4 - to take place weekly on Wednesdays starting from the 14th January at the H.O.M.E Hub in Benfleet.

This is for anyone aged 11-19, from 4pm-8pm, to spend time doing fun activities every week.
