Questions

I can only visit Woodside Cemetery after I finish work, is it possible for me to have keys to the gates?

No. Keys are no longer given to the members of the public as there were several instances of other visitors being locked in. However, the Cemetery is open until 6:00pm (from the Pedestrian Gate).

I want to make arrangements to buy a plot/memorial plaque at the cemetery

Northwick Cemetery does not come under our jurisdiction. Please contact Willow Funeral Directors on 01268 795695. They are situated at 61 High Road, Benfleet.

I would like to inform you about a tree that needs pruning in St Katherine's Churchyard, Canvey Island.

The Council is not responsible for maintaining trees in Churchyards. Please contact Sheila Powell on 01268 511098 for matters relating to trees in St Katherine’s Churchyard. Sheila is the Parish Secretary and is based at St Nicholas Church, Canvey Island.

Is St Katherine's a Church?

No. St Katherine’s is an old disused Church which is now a Heritage Centre hosting arts, crafts, photography and occasionally holding exhibitions.

What are the opening and closing times for visiting South Benfleet Cemetery?

South Benfleet cemetery is open all the time.

 

What are the opening and closing times for visiting Woodside Cemetery?

The Main Gate is open from: 7:30am - 4:00pm The Pedestrian Gate is open from: 7:30am - 6:00pm
