Castle Point Plan Consultation

We’ve set out a bold, community-led strategy for sustainable growth across the Borough. The Castle Point Plan will set out where new development will be allocated, how much affordable housing will be built and more up to 2043.

Castle Point Borough Council is calling on residents to share their views on the draft Castle Point Plan before the public consultation closes on Friday 26 September 2025.

The draft Plan outlines a community-led strategy for sustainable growth across the Borough. It reflects extensive engagement with residents and stakeholders and aims to balance development needs with environmental protection.

Key features include:

  • Urban-first development to protect the Green Belt and heritage sites
  • 6,196 new homes over 19 years, focused on affordability and quality
  • Brownfield regeneration to enhance urban areas and preserve green spaces
  • Support for local businesses through skills, infrastructure and investment
  • Infrastructure upgrades including town centre improvements and active travel options
  • Environmental safeguards such as flood resilience, water efficiency and biodiversity

Cllr Dave Blackwell, Leader of Castle Point Borough Council said: “The Castle Point Plan reflects our community’s values and priorities, putting local voices at the heart of future development. Please have your say before the consultation closes on 26 September.”

Cllr Tim Copsey, Cabinet Member for Strategic Planning added: “We’ve listened carefully to residents throughout the process of shaping the Plan. Now we would love residents to submit their views in this final Regulation 19 consultation.”

Paper copies are available at the Council offices in Kiln Road, Thundersley. 

Residents can also give their views at one of the drop-in events taking place across the Borough.

  • 2pm – 3.30pm, 25 September, The Paddocks
