Record number of Disabled Facilities Grants awarded

Castle Point Borough Council is proud to announce that the number of residents benefitting from Disabled Facilities Grants has more than quadrupled since 2020/2021. From 22 grants awarded in 2020/2021, the figure has reached 89 in 2024/2025.

In 2024/2025, nearly £970,000 has been invested into making vital home adaptations, compared to £298,859 in 2020/2021. These improvements allow people with disabilities and/or older people, to live more safely, independently, and comfortably in their own homes.

Cllr Dave Blackwell, Leader of Castle Point Borough Council, said: "We’re very proud of the outstanding work our teams have done to deliver Disabled Facilities Grants to more residents than ever before. Thanks to their commitment, the numbers of residents helped has quadrupled since 2020/21. This isn’t just about numbers; it’s about helping residents to live independent and fulfilling lives in their own homes."

Cllr Rob Lillis, Portfolio Holder for Health, Wellbeing and Housing, added: "These grants make a real and lasting difference to our residents, allowing people to live as securely and independently as possible in their own homes.
