Statement on Privo Land Ltd engagement (rear of 82 The Chase)

We are aware that a public engagement session was held in Runnymede Hall on 30 June, hosted by Privo Land Ltd. During the session, display boards indicated that officers had provided advice suggesting that the planning application to build up to 95 new homes on land to the rear of 82 The Chase would likely be supported in principle. This was an error by the Council’s planning department.

That advice should not have been issued. We have advised Privo Land Ltd that this advice will be formally withdrawn. We are urgently reviewing how this advice was issued and will provide a further update.

Cllr Warren Gibson, Deputy Leader said, “I attended the consultation, saw the error and raised it immediately with senior officers for prompt action.”

To date, no planning application has been made, and no planning committee decision has been made in respect of this land. Any proposals by the developer will be assessed in full if and when formally made through the usual planning process.

The Council would like to apologise for this mistake and the confusion it has caused.
