Developer contributions are sought in order to make development schemes acceptable through improvements to affordable housing provision, infrastructure, services and environmental quality within and beyond the development site.
It is recognised that developer contributions can affect the viability of a development scheme, particularly if it is unclear from the start to the type and levels of contributions that will be sought. As a result, the Council has prepared Developer Contributions Guidance setting out the approach it will take to developer contributions for various matters. This will be used as a starting point for the negotiation of contributions.
The Council's current Developer Contributions Guidance is set out below. This is the subject of review due to changes brought about by the introduction of CIL. The Council is therefore in the process of reviewing its Developer Contributions Guidance. A draft of the revised guidance was made available for consultation earlier in 2014. The responses are currently being reviewed with the aim of adopting the revised guidance alongside submission of the CIL Charging Schedule.
