Essex to move to Covid Tier 2 - High

Earlier today it was announced that the COVID alert level for Essex(excluding Thurrock and Southend ) has been raised from tier 1 (Medium) to tier 2 (High) - effective from midnight Friday 16th October 2020.

 The Council’s operational arrangements remain unchanged.  Appropriate arrangements have already been adopted to ensure compliance with government guidance. 

The decision to ask for Essex to be placed in a higher alert level was not taken lightly but because of concern about increasing case numbers and the ability to control the spread of the virus with current restrictions.
