Help plan the future of your community – your community your views

Residents from across Castle Point are being invited to get further involved in helping shape the future of the places where they live.

As part of initial work to develop the Castle Point Plan, the Council is holding a series of workshops to gain greater insight into people’s views on their local area, how it should develop, what they wish to change, and what they want to keep.

The Castle Point Together workshops follow the launch of the Castle Point Plan engagement portal earlier in the year where people have already been having their say.

The information from both exercises will complement a series of detailed studies the Council has commissioned into various aspects of the Castle Point environment including, heritage, wildlife, open spaces and housing need.  All the data will be used to develop a series of options which residents will be invited to considers in Spring next year before an initial draft of the Castle Point Plan is developed.

Cllr Warren Gibson, Chair of the Castle Point Plan Board, said: “At the start of this process we pledged that engaging with and listening to residents would be at the heart of developing this plan and we are doing everything possible to ensure that.

“When finished, the Castle Point plan will be one of the keystone documents on which the Council’s planning decisions will be based.

“Development planning isn’t just a process; it is something which has a direct impact on all our lives and the experience we have of where we live. It is therefore vital that as many people as possible have their say.”

During the workshops participants will be asked for their views on a range of issues with discussions facilitated by planning experts.
