Reopening our High Streets - Castle Point Back in Business

The Government has announced that from Monday 15th June 2020 most shops and other high street businesses can reopen again after 3 months of closure during the lock down. This is good news for Castle Point’s local stores and businesses, most of whom have been running online services. The lockdown and requirement to avoid unnecessary travel, has meant that our local shops and town centres have never been so important.

Castle Point Council is working with businesses to ensure that we reopen our high streets safely with signs being put up to remind people of their social distancing requirements and pavement markings outside every store.

We want people to feel they are free to move around the high streets, but we ask everyone to comply with the social distancing rules so that you are safe and your visit is every bit more enjoyable.

If you are visiting one of our town centres this means you must:

  • Limit contact with other people

  • Keep your distance if you go out (2 metres apart where possible)

  • Wash your hands regularly

  • Do not leave home if you or anyone in your household has symptoms.

We want everyone to feel safe in our town centres.

We also want to promote the great stores and businesses located in Castle Point and ensure that their customers feel safe and abide by the social distancing and stay safe guidelines. Information on the range of businesses within our town centres and where possible links to their websites can be found here https://www.castlepoint.gov.uk/towncentrebusinesses

It is vital that that Government advice is followed to stay safe, reduce the risk of the spread of infection. We can all help control the virus if we all stay alert.
