The Coronation of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort will see the nation celebrate a momentous occasion, with street parties being planned across the country and beyond.
In addition to the ceremony at Westminster Abbey on Saturday 6 May, the Coronation Weekend will also include a live concert at Windsor Castle on Sunday 7 May and an extra bank holiday on Monday 8 May.
We are encouraging residents to start planning how they might want to celebrate this historic weekend. You could decorate your house with union flag bunting, organise a street party in your neighbourhood, or organise an event to raise money for charity.
In addition to street parties and gatherings, Buckingham Palace is also encouraging residents to take part in the Big Lunch and Big Help Out events, as part of the celebrations. More information will be published on our website and social media closer to the event.
Hosting a Street Party
We would encourage our residents to take part in celebrations by hosting or attending street parties for the coronation. Information can be found on the GOV.UK website on how to host a street party.
Want to host a street party? Please email licensing@castlepoint.gov.uk with your details. Please contact us before 8 April to allow enough time for our team to process your details.
Please note: Castle Point Borough Council will not be responsible for implementing road closures, providing signage or other aspects of street parties and there may be a limit for the amount of time the road can be closed. You must obtain the approval of all residents who would be affected by a road closure and make arrangements for emergency access. If you would like more information or any questions answered, please contact our Licensing team via the email address supplied above
